1 Raj. R&VNCC Squadron, CVAS, Bikaner The 1 Raj. R&V Sqn. NCC unit at CVAS Bikaner was established in 1986 and is continuously training the NCC cadets. College of Veterinary & Animal Science, Bikaner NCC unit is associated with Group HQS. NCC Jodhpur. R&VNCC, Squadron is fully equipped with horse line (having 13 army horses), an arena for exercising and show equestrian sports. This facility is available only in this college in the State. The authorised strength of this unit is 200 cadets.
NCC provides institutional training as well as various training camps like National Integration Camp, Advance Leadership Camp, Summer Camp, Rock Climbing, Para Jumping, Mountaineering, Army Attachment Camp, Republic Day Camp etc. The cadets of this unit are continuously participating every year in the prestigious Republic Day camp at Delhi where the cadets participated in the different equestrian competitions and won prizes almost every year and bring laurels to NCC unit and college. Many ex-cadets of this unit got a commission in the Indian army and other Para-military forces. ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate examinations and different types of camps are organized every year.
2. R&V NCC Battalion at CVAS Navania (Udaipur) NCC Directorate has sanctioned an NCC Battalion with full budget & posts at CVAS, Navania (Udaipur). Ministry of Defense has also sanctioned posts of army persons and 26 horses to be posted/transferred in this unit. The foundation stone of this unit has been laid by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr).Col. A.K. Gahlot on 9th September 2014. The building for this unit will include administrative block, 26 horse stalls with storage facilities and quarters for 4-6 employees.
There goes a good proverb -“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. Games and sports are important for success in every walk of our life. The importance of games and sports can never be minimized. First of all, they are good exercises and help to build fine physique for the boys and girls. It makes them mentally alert and physically strong. Secondly, students learn to cope with difficult situations. By displaying their feats before many spectators, they can overcome their nervousness.
Thirdly, games and sports are good diversions and give them the energy to learn their lessons well. In the RAJUVAS, Games and Sports are a regular feature of the college curriculum and include all outdoor and indoor games and athletics. RAJUVAS main campus has a 320 bigha eco-friendly area having vast playgrounds and having good facilities for games and sports. The two tennis courts and one badminton court both having light facilities to play at night are situated in main University campus. The facilities for athletics, football, hockey, kabaddi, cricket basketball, volleyball and table tennis are present in boy’s hostel at the campus with lights to play at night for basketball & volleyball. There is a pavilion for a seating capacity of 500 is present at common playgrounds. In the pavilion, there is an indoor table tennis facility with electric lights. The girls’ hostel has playing facilities for basketball, volleyball and badminton. Gymnasium facility for students is also available at University campus. In the gymnasium 4 stations multi gym, roller trade mill, cross trainer, orbit bike, standing and sitting twister, pro-curl bench, abdominal pro-bench are provided for exercise.
University Games and sports competitions are annual affairs in RAJUVAS. Sports are generally held in winter months. Students take part in various games like high and long jumps and different kind of races. These annual sports & games foster competitive spirit and sportsmanship among the participants and make them disciplined. Interclass tournaments are held in relation to football, kabaddi, cricket, tennis, basketball, volleyball, badminton etc. The RAJUVAS teams are regularly participating in inter veterinary university and inter agricultural university games and sports competitions. The coaching camps for different games are organized before sending teams for inter-university competitions.
In order to inculcate the spirit of community service amongst students, there are two NSS units of RAJUVAS functional at CVAS, Bikaner and Navania (Udaipur). Each Unit has one Programme Officer and 100 volunteers. These units are administratively controlled by one Programme Coordinator at the university level. Dean Students Welfare generally works as the Programme Coordinator for the University. The NSS units have regular programmes as well as a special camp every year in the adopted villages where NSS volunteers undertake social work, like awareness to parents to avoid female foeticide, so that natural balance of gender is maintained, awareness against drugs-abuse and smoking; adult and child education; mother and child care; health, hygiene, cleanliness, cleaning of village well/ponds; awareness against HIV/AIDS; pulse polio campaign; voter awareness programme; literacy programme; free plantation; blood donation; talks on water conservation and many more activities focused on social and rural upliftment. The NSS volunteers undertake social work in and around a college campus for 3 hours for 40 days in a year. The NSS volunteers of this University also help in organizing camps for treatment of animals in the adopted villages during special camps along with experts of the University. The NSS units organize the regular activities as detailed below:
1• An orientation of NSS Volunteers: To get the NSS volunteers well acquainted with the basics of NSS programmes, 20 hours are allocated for their orientation through lectures, discussions, field visits etc.
2• Campus work: The NSS volunteers are involved in the projects undertaken for the benefit of the institution and the students concerned. Such projects cover the development of playgrounds, laying of gardens, massive tree plantation in the college premises, awareness programme on drug abuse, AIDS, No smoking, population education, Gender Awareness and other projects. The NSS volunteers work on campus for not exceeding 30 hours in a year.
3• The remaining 70 hours are utilized for community service on the projects in adopted villages independently or in collaboration with others in this field, as mentioned below:
• Institutional work: The NSS volunteers are assigned with duties to work with selected voluntary organizations working for the welfare of women, protection of baby foeticide, blood donation, pulse polio campaign, children and aged citizens outside the campus.
• Rural upliftment work: NSS volunteers provide their services in the adopted village for eradication of illiteracy, health, hygiene, nutrition, sanitation, mother and child care, family planning, gender justice, small savings drive, construction of rural roads/well, campaign for voter awareness, campaign against social evils, like dowry, female foeticide etc. and many more activities focused on social upliftment.
• NSS units of this university also undertake extension work & treatment of animals in the villages during special camps.
4• A 7- days special camp is organized in the adopted village on the specified project designed by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt, of India and NSS Cell, Higher and Technical Education, Govt, of Rajasthan.
i) To educate and train the students of the University in running the student bodies in the colleges/institution in a democratic way.
ii) To provide education and training to the students for their role as ideal citizens of the country.
iii) To provide for the achievement of the objectives of the University relevant to teaching, research and extension.
iv) To provide for the social, cultural and intellectual development of the students.
v) To provide for the promotion of healthy relations between the students, teachers and other employees of the University.
vi) To promote a healthy and orderly corporate life in the University.
i) Organizing debates, lectures, discussions, study circle, essay competitions, cultural and other contests etc.
ii) Publication in furtherance of education.
iii) Social service and activities.
iv) Organizing and running students activities.
v) Such other activities as approved by the Chief Patron or any other officers nominated by him in this behalf.

In order to provide the best possible career option, personality development, creating scope for improving skills and other human resource development activities to the aspiring graduates, the University Placement Cell is functioning at RAJUVAS with the following objectives:
The cell regularly arranges motivational programmes, besides conducting both on-campus and off-campus recruitment interviews for the benefit of the aspiring graduates. The cell also organizes soft skill development programmes for the personality development of the graduates. This cell is maintaining a computerized database of veterinary graduates and post-graduates. With the help of this database, the cell sponsors list of students to the recruiting agencies for possible employment.
