The Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (RAJUVAS), Bikaner is a constituted body corporate established under Sub-section(3) of Section 1 of the Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Act, 2010. The University came into existence on 18th day of May, 2010. The Headquarter of the Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences is located at Bikaner.

The Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Bikaner has been established for the purpose of development of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in the state of Rajasthan in specific and in the country in general by ensuring proper and systematic instruction, training, research and extension in up to date system of Veterinary and Animal Sciences and its allied sciences. The University is marching ahead to provide technical and scientific support for transforming state animal husbandry from sustainability to improved profitability. Improved production in association with productivity spurts has led the State to be one of the leaders in the country for milk, meat and wool production with the support of scientific and technological interventions and a favorable policy environment.

Vision

Make available appropriately trained human resource, generate suitable technologies and transfer new knowledge and technical knowhow to stakeholders for the purpose of enhancing income of farmers and landless owner through Animal Husbandry in Rajasthan.

ROLE AND MANDATE

To plan, initiate, guide, co-ordinate and monitor the research in the field of Veterinary and Animal Science.

To maintain liaison with State and Central Government, ICAR, DST and other National and International funding agencies for obtaining the financial support for various veterinary and animal science research programmes.

To monitor animal health programme through disease investigation and surveillance.

To impart quality professional education, to develop technologies suitable for promoting animal production in the state of Rajasthan.

To transfer the technologies to field functionaries and to develop a center of higher learning, search and extension in the field of veterinary and animal science.

OBJECTIVES

• Making provision for imparting education towards development of quality human resource, in different branches of specialization of veterinary and animal sciences.

• Furthering the advancement of learning and conducting research.

• Undertaking extension education.

• Promoting partnership and linkages with national and international institutions.

• Liaisoning and establishing vital linkages with the concerned line departments working in the fields of animal husbandry, fisheries and dairy development, animal technology in the State, by whatever name called, governed by the Government of Rajasthan as well as the Union Government.

• Liaison with National and International Research Institute, specialized in the field of veterinary, animal, dairy and fishery science technologies with to keep abreast of the latest technology.

Bikaner is a city located in the North Western part of the Indian state of Rajasthan. Studded with impregnable forts, magnificent places, grand havelies and mansions noted for their architectural grandeur, Bikaner attracts tourist from all over the world. It is well connected with air, train and road rout from the various part of the country and world.

Bikaner Airport has regular flight from Delhi Airport. Jodhpur airport, situated at a distance of nearly 250 kilometers, Jaipur airport at a distance of 340 km and Delhi (Domestic & International) airport at a distance of 450 km to Bikaner. It is connected through flights with major cities in North India

Bikaner Railway station is well connected with other major cities of Rajasthan and India through the decent connectivity of express/superfast trains. It is also well connected with the major cities of India by roads. Several state transport buses connect Bikaner with other cities in Rajasthan. Highways are comfortable for a person to drive to Bikaner. Highways like NH 11, 15 and 89 link Bikaner with other major Indian cities and metros. State, as well as luxury buses, are a handy option to reach the destination.

His Excellency, the Governor of Rajasthan, is the Chancellor of the University and the Vice-Chancellor is the Academic Head and Principal Executive Officer of the University. The University is governed by the following Authorities.

Academic Council RAJUVAS

The Academic Council shall be the academic authority of the University and shall, subject to the provisions of this Act and the Statutes, have the control and general regulation of teaching and examination in the University and shall be responsible for the maintenance of the standards there of. The term of office of the members of the Academic council, other than the ex-officio members, shall be three years.
